Our Approach

Origin USA is a Maine-based manufacturer of boots, clothing and sporting equipment. All of their products are handcrafted from the finest American materials, and are built to go the distance. This ethos permeates all of their output, giving wearers the confidence to tackle the harshest landscapes.

They wanted to create a video that showcased their boots, aimed predominantly at a European audience, but that would also resonate with their existing core American customer base.

This video was captured over the course of a week on the northwest coast of Scotland. We visited some iconic locations and some lesser-known hidden spots we have discovered on our travels over the years.

The journey began at a friend’s hotel in Lochailort, which we used a base for the first few days of filming. Here, we captured the forest scenes in the nearby woodland and the scene with the old Jacobite train passing under the bridge.

The main opening scene was shot off the coast of Arisaig, next to the Isle of Eigg. Our original plan for getting a boat out to sea had fallen through and we were in desperate need of a boat and a skipper. We spent a few hours at a local bar in Arisaig and got chatting to some fisherman who helped us out getting a rib to tow our old rickety row boat (which definitely wasn't sea-worthy). After all this stress, however, we were blessed with a gorgeous sunset behind the epic Isle of Rum.

The following day, we moved up to Applecross for the next stage of our journey. We were staying next to a beautiful coastal road next with amazing hidden gems nearby, and this is were we shot the landing scene in a hidden cave.

Our final stop was Torridon, where we walked the Ben Eighe route to Coire Mhic Fhearchair. Since this video was aimed at an American audience we wanted to finish with some more familiar scenery. So where better than the spot used in the Highlander sword training montage? We captured a lot of the mountain scenes here with our camera on the gimbal and with the drone. After a long hike in, we managed to get the final shot with Tommy standing proud with his Origin boots on overlooking one of the finest landscapes in Scotland.

We’ve crossed continents and seas. Against all the odds, we’ve conquered every challenge the world has thrown at us. Through the labour of our bodies and our minds, we transform nature into the things we need. It’s what makes us human. We move, we work; we invent and we grow. Every time we put another foot forward, we enter a new world. From your first step until your last, Origin is there to carry you. These boots are handmade in Maine, USA. From the leather to the laces, the values of craftsmanship live on in every pair. But they’re meant for you. Wherever you’re headed. Origin: built to work, made for life.

Thanks to everyone involved in making this happen 🙏
